THE PILOT · UPDATED 23 OCTOBER 2026

Privacy & how this works.

A considered selection

People & products is an independent editorial watchlist of public X accounts. This October reading list looks back over 30 days. We select original posts for their ideas, useful detail, creative work, and product relevance, including older pieces that still reward a read. Posts keep their original dates and words. The order is editorial, not a chronological news feed. A place in the directory does not mean every post will appear, or that a person or brand has endorsed today. New posts are checked every 30 minutes while the pilot budget is available. There is no per-account publication quota; originality and value guide selection, not follower count. DeepSeek uses original captions, quoted text, media types and link-card titles to infer what is worth exploring in the whole post. It does not watch videos, inspect images or read linked articles, and it does not rewrite posts.

posts is the selected-post collection; people & products is the source directory. Selecting a source filters posts to that source’s selected posts. The today logo returns to all selected posts. Section navigation remembers the reading position and loaded batch while you move between the two views. Source filters, directory filters and open source details are represented in the page address so Back and Forward can restore them.

Original words, a TODAY reading view

We keep a dated display snapshot of each selected public post: its original text, author name, handle and avatar URL, timestamp, original link, and image, video-preview and available video playback URLs. TODAY sets the typography and layout. We do not use AI to rewrite these posts. Images and previews load from X’s content servers; we do not download or host the media files. Photos open directly in an image viewer, with author attribution, a link to the original post, image navigation and zoom. Available videos play directly in the original TODAY card using your browser’s video player. When you press play, your browser requests the video directly from X’s content servers. TODAY does not host or proxy the files. Some posts have only a preview or a playback URL that is no longer available; their original X link remains available.

We periodically recheck selected posts. Changes or deletions may not appear immediately. Snapshots that cannot be checked for 48 hours stop appearing. The timestamp and “View on X” links lead to the original, current post. A quoted post flagged as having Community Notes when collected keeps its original text and media previews, with a small Community Notes disclosure beside its timestamp. Hover, focus or tap it to read the explanation and open the latest context on X. The flag is a snapshot, not confirmation of the current note status; we do not reproduce or summarize the notes. To report an unavailable or changed post, contact us through thats.store.

Source-directory avatars also load from X’s content servers. Loading remote images sends technical requests to X’s content providers. Opening an original post takes you to X, where its own privacy and cookie rules apply. See X’s privacy policy. Playing a video sends technical requests to X’s video servers, subject to X’s privacy rules. No X widget scripts or embedded post frames are loaded. We do not collect playback analytics.

Store links

The store links in our navigation and footer take you to the MY thats.store shop when you choose them. Swiping between posts and people & products stays within TODAY. We do not load the store’s product catalog or product images into the reading page. The store’s own privacy and cookie rules apply after you follow a link.

A little feedback, without a feedback button

We count visits to posts and people & products, source-detail opens, category choices, source-reading navigation, introduction-form opens, visible post headers, and clicks on our own links to X. We store daily totals by event and source or category. These first-party daily totals do not assign visitor IDs, set tracking cookies, fingerprint devices, or save IP addresses, raw search terms, or browsing histories.

These are interaction counts, not unique people or proof of demand. We count our outbound links, but cannot observe what you do after leaving TODAY. Counts can include repeat visits or automated activity. We do not use them for advertising targeting. When your browser exposes Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, our own event collection is disabled. Hosting providers may process technical request logs under their own policies.

Google Analytics

We also use Google Analytics 4 on thats.today to understand visitor numbers, traffic sources, engagement and return visits. Google Analytics uses cookies and browser-generated identifiers to distinguish browsers and sessions. It processes technical information such as browser and device details, language, approximate location and interactions. These estimates are not a count of identified people.

Enhanced measurement is enabled for supported scroll, outbound-link, search, form, video and download interactions. It does not automatically measure our native X video playback or prove that a post was read. Our integration removes directory search text and arbitrary query strings from the page addresses it sends, while retaining campaign attribution. We do not intentionally send introduction text or contact details, and we disable Google signals and advertising personalization signals in our tag configuration. Learn more about how Google processes information from partner sites.

Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track disable our Google Analytics tag as well as our first-party event collection. You can also disable Google Analytics in this browser below. This preference is stored locally; it does not disable our separate anonymous daily interaction totals. Clearing site storage resets the preference. Hosting providers may still process technical request logs.

Google Analytics settings require JavaScript.

A little breeze

The star moves with your pointer or scrolling. The optional microphone toy starts only when you choose “Enable microphone” and allow your browser’s permission request. Once enabled, the panel closes so you can keep reading and move the header star with a gentle breath. A microphone indicator and a “turn off” button stay in the header while it is on. It measures sound strength locally on your device; it does not record, store, upload, or transcribe audio. Other sounds can move the star too. The microphone stays on as you browse posts and people & products in this page, until you turn it off, switch away, lock your screen, or leave the page. It does not restart automatically when you return or refresh. Closing the panel while permission is pending cancels the request; an unanswered request also times out after 30 seconds. Reduced-motion preferences keep the star still and turn the microphone off.

on your home screen

The optional installation guide adapts to your browser. Dismissing its reminder saves only that preference on this device. Adding today gives you a home-screen shortcut and, where supported, a standalone window. Content is fetched when you open or refresh today; installation does not enable background updates, notifications or offline reading.

Introducing someone

Your submitted X handle, explanation, optional X link, and submission time are saved to our private editorial review list. They are not shown publicly or sent to the recommended account. No login is required. Please do not include private or sensitive information. Repeated introductions of the same handle on the same day are combined. We review suggestions before changing the directory.

Questions about today or a submitted introduction can be directed through thats.store.
